Monta Vista had four athletes accepted at the prestigious Stanford Invitational, highlighted by our rocking distance medley team. On Friday, we sent Kelly Bishop, Maddy Yip, and freshmen Sarah Feng and Alisha Gao to compete against some of the best teams on the West Coast! Our ladies represented Monta Vista well, running a combined 12:32 time for 4000m, only eight seconds from the all-time Monta Vista record. At the 1600m point, we were in second place! We hung on for an 11th place finish out of 33 teams; the winning team, Davis Senior High with all-California start Fiona O’Keefe ran the best time in the United States so far this year, and the Monta Vista is currently ranked 22nd in all of California!
On Saturday, Kelly came back and competed as an individual in both the mile and the 800m, and improved her 1600m season best by five seconds.
The Stanford Invitational can be magic!

Alumni Update
There are several alumni that should be highlighted (and there may be some more that I miss–please let me know!).
Emma Seyer (De Anza College) (MV2014) has set the all-time De Anza hammer throw record with a 175’10” throw!
Kiersten Chuc (Carnegie-Mellon University) (MV2014, a teammate of Emma’s) is now third all-time at CMU with a 137′ throw!
Jenny Xu (MIT) (MV2015) ran a 37:54 in her first college 10km race–that’s 25 laps on the track! Jenny’s time qualified her for post-season competition in her first race. Currently, Jenny is ranked 14th in the nation in D3!
Our alumni are really impressive–great schools, great results!
