Monta Vista track and field 2015 got rolling on Monday, February 2! As usual, the first week grinds off the starting line as we crunch through paperwork, get re-acclimated to the routine and effort of workouts, and get to know the track once more! Here are a few photos and highlights and some upcoming events…
PAPERWORK IS SUCH A CHORE
As always, cranking through a mountain of paperwork is a chore for everyone–not least Mrs. Flatow! There is no one more eager for all of this to get on-line than us. We know this is a pain for you athletes too, but it is necessary. Thanks to everyone who got this done early and correctly. And thank you to everyone who joined the MV Boosters right away–if you have not joined yet, you may join online right here.
WE LOOKED GOOD AT PRACTICE
We looked good and we were working hard in week 1!
Track and field practice starts at 3:20pm everyday and our athletes practice until 5:20pm (we are respectful of the many time demands placed upon Monta Vista students and if we can get out early, we do–but plan on being at practice until 5:20pm). And we try not to let rain stop us–check out these wet athletes in the last photo!
UPCOMING
Week 2 of practice starts February 9, and we will start feeling like we will be finding our groove. Some of us will also be feeling a little sore, and the February 17 break week will feel like a treat–however, even though you might be traveling, or you might not be able to make any optional practices that week, DON’T fall into the temptation to just sit on your couch! Continue to run and work your core and train; you are starting to make some gains, and it is far better to keep working than go through that initial start up period AGAIN after the break!
Also, don’t forget the Parent Meeting on February 12 at 6pm in the Library! Please tell your parents.
ALUMNI UPDATE
There are several Monta Vista alumni that are having fun indoor seasons! It’s great to check them out on-line, some of you may also get updates on FB. Take a look now and then to see how some of these athletes are doing in college indoor track and field and later in outdoor–and if you feel moved, drop them a note and say ‘way to go!’ (And who knows…you could be doing the same in college before too long!)
