Monta Vista athletes are starting to show the results of our training and fitness, with a great showing at our dual meet versus Santa Clara on April 5.

We enjoyed a good day of track weather and lots of athletes took advantage of our good fortune.  Our horizontal jumpers in particular had a good day.  Sayali Khare and Ariel Martin took firsts in the triple and long jumps and lead the varsity girls to 14 of 18 possible points, Gokul Parakulum and Caleb Wang brought home 12 of 18 possible Varsity boys’ points, Lavinia Fung won the JV girls long and triple jumps and along with Sherry Win and Lydia Wu took 17 of 18 possible JVG points.  Ameya Khare and Casey Parsay won for the frosh-soph boys in LJ and TJ and along with Donald Swen also racked up 18 points.  A pretty amazing showing by our jumpers!

The Monta Vista Jump Squad

I’m nor sure of all the personal bests that we scored but I believe we had plenty, including a 27’9” throw by Emma Seyer in the shot put,  Rohan Choudhury with a 2:14.24 in the 800m, and Kiersten Chuc with a 74’9” in the discus.   Chloe Li had a 400m PR while winning both the 200m and 400m while running a 4×400 relay leg, too.

An amazing performance came from Zach Patti who not only set a 3200m PR of almost 40 seconds, and not only won the frosh-soph race, he was the first finisher overall in the 3200m race overall!  Great race, Zach!

The team results were mixed.  Our Varsity boys and girls lost 37-89 and 48-79, however the JV girls and frosh-soph boys both won 85-10 and 89-29.  We are building, team!

Next up, a double-dual meet with Homestead and Fremont.
