Some hardy souls joined Coach on an end-of-finals run last Friday…braving a chilly morning and a muddy, hilly route (with only a bit of rain) we all recorded more than 7 miles and more than 1000 feet of climbing to kick off the holiday break!
We are all in a lull in our training after diligent cross-country training; fitness is not at our peak. So it makes it even more cool that we have such a solid base of training that banging out 7 or 8 hilly single-track miles just seems like a fun thing to do with friends to celebrate the end of finals! When I tell new distance runners that if they train for a solid season, and give distance running a real commitment, by the end of the season, Matadors’ Point will be just a normal day recovery run. And more than that, a run like Quicksilver will just seem like a fun thing to do with a bunch of friends. For all real distance runners…don’t take this accomplishment for granted. You have grown! You are runners.
Let’s get running! Track is around the corner. Watch this space over the next couple weeks for some tips on getting ready for MVTF17. In the meantime…just get back in the habit of doing your favorite runs with your friends and teammates.
Have a great break, everyone, and see you soon!
