Monta Vista summer running is now rolling! Check out the group Monday at 7am for the first day of MVXC summer running:
That’s a solid group! Let’s keep building our team and our run groups. Consistent running in June and July is the key to an enjoyable, strong cross country season in August, September and October. And the easiest way to be consistent is to have friends to run with who make the miles fly by. Get up early and knock out a few miles with your team and the rest of the day you will feel energized and satisfied!
There is information posted about the summer running program. In addition, feel free to contact Coach Samantha Louie about summer running as well as optional evening conditioning. Our student-athlete leaders for the summer can provide you with information too–Anika, Megan, Manasi, Tanay and Ruhaan. We welcome athletes from Kennedy, returning cross country runners, athletes from other sports that want to be in the best shape of their lives, and the cross-country-curious! Summer running is a low stress and low pressure way to get started with an athletic summer:

Greetings from England!
A group of Monta Vista alumni, graduating in from 2014 through 2020, travelled to England to compete in the Grindleford Fell Race on June 15. The Grindleford Fell Race is a 4.9 mile jaunt with over 900′ of vertical climb, many types of surfaces, and two river crossings. Almost 400 runners participated, including a runner (Phillipa Williams) who was on the podium in the World Mountain Championships. The Dark Peak Fell Runners helped make this happen for MV. Monta Vista did well–three Monta Vista girls (Triya Roy (MV20), coach Sarah Feng (MV19) and Claire Chang (MV19)) who had been a part of the 2018 CCS Championship team swept the top three spots in the under 23 division! Jeffrey Xu (MV 18) and Justin Lin (MV 18) took 2nd and 3rd U23. More importantly, these lifelong athletes and MV alumni had a great time together in England, meeting other runners from across the Atlantic, and catching up with former friends. Running is life! Running, and your memories of your high school team, can stick with you forever.
Start running this summer…keep trying your whole life…you could be running a fell race with your friends in your 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond!
