Hey everyone,
I’d been meaning to post this…but hopefully you have all seen this article when it was published a week ago. Yes, the MV runners were recognized for our volunteer work in June in the Fremont Older Open Space District!
Besides this article, I’ve had several emails from Cupertino residents who heard about the work you did up there, thanking you for your efforts. One particularly touching note was from the parents of two MV cross-country runners from the 1990s, telling me that she and her husband have been using the bench you built on their hikes in the OSD. I’ll pass around her thank you card when practice starts in August; the card was incredibly thoughtful.
Most times, when you donate your time and do something nice for the community, people will appreciate what you do but you’ll never know it. Next year, when we have our volunteer day in Fremont Older, maybe no one says a thing to you. Hopefully, that won’t matter, you will feel good about what you are doing for the community even if no one knows that you were the one who did the work. But…I hope you remember that people DO think what you are doing is great, and you are doing good for others, and that is enough to keep you volunteering, whether that is working on trails, or helping raise money to fight cancer, or helping youth athletics, or whatever project you find some passion and some motivation to give back to your community.
Nice going, team, I’m proud of you–as always!
