MVXC21 athletes got back to school on Monday, August 16…and with that, our practice schedule switched from dawn patrol to afternoons.  Our athletes began the adaptation process we need for training and racing in warm weather–which includes some increased focus on hydration, nutrition and sleep as our bodies adjust.
With hydration being so important, and since we can’t share water bottles this year, we all got some top-of-the-line Amphipod handheld water bottles for the long/challenging runs.  Handheld water bottles gives all our athletes the chance to control their own hydration…we simply have to remember our bottles!

We got in some hill repeats, a sweet long run out to Matadors Point (and the infamous REI trail for some), and a big set of Dirty 4s.  Coach was super proud of the team effort on those nasty, challenging Dirty 4s!
Coming up, we have a big week.  This year’s squad will make their first trip to Mat’s Hill–don’t forget those water bottles!  After a year’s hiatus, we tackle the Watermelon Run before running Matador Miles.  And for the parents, Wednesday evening will be our parent meeting.  Yup, that’s a big week!
Have a nice dinner, a good night’s sleep, and let’s get ready for a good week of school and athletics!  Have a good Monday at school and see you at practice.

“It’s about hard work.  When it is not fun, you do what you need to do anyway.  Because when you achieve results, it is incredibly fun!  You get to enjoy the ‘AHA!’ at the end, and that is what drags you along all the way.” ~ Mads Rasmussen

True in running and in most of the things we want to achieve in school, work, life!
