No one has been able to tell me the exact date of the last time Monta Vista has hosted a track meet at home…certainly it’s been more than 15 years!
So it was an incredible day on Thursday, March 14, when Monta Vista and Cupertino met on the MV track. It was a great day…the weather cooperated…our parents were out in force, assisting and cheering…and our athletes left everything out on the track!
While we did not take home team victories in either Varsity division, all our athletes showed a lot. Maddie Yip recorded a nice PR in the 1600 on the way to a 1600-800 double…Giselle Kaneda recorded her second win in the 100 hurdles while also branching out into new events…Richelle also won for the second time, in the high jump…Jenny Xu won the 3200, and Emma Seyer took first in the discus with a PR…Chatty Adiga recorded a 56.42 in his first try at the 400m (I think we have found an event for him!)…Gokul took a first in the 100m and the TJ, while Anand Rao staged an amazing finish to take the 800m…James Migdal stepped up to Varsity and won the High Jump–our high jumpers are looking pretty good this year!
There were lots of other great efforts and performances, a complete list of all the results is on Hank Lawson’s CCS site.
I’m going to keep this post short, and I want to close with a huge round of applause for Principal April Scott, our athletic directors Jeff Mueller and Jeff Thomas, and our Athletic Boosters lead by president Ken Orick for working so hard over many years to make this day possible. It was an amazing day!
And athletes…you made the day special, with all your hard work and full-on effort. Congrats to everyone, and thank you for making the track look so good!
