Hello MV!
I wanted to give you all another update on my time with Johns Hopkins Blue Jays track team.
This weekend is the Centennial Conference indoor championships, and Hop is so fired up! Our last workout before the conference meet was yesterday, and it was perfect: Sunny, no wind, and the temperature was around 50. Athletes were flying. I had the 3km/5km women yesterday, and they were rolling (another insider tip for this weekend…watch for Sara S, she was crushing her targets for the first half of the workout and making it look easy before she got back to the planned pace. And let me tell you, when Coach Bobby says one-minute recovery, they are all right back on the line in one minute! It’s fun to watch and be a part of this group.
One thing I’ve already learned, every athlete records their own splits on Google Sheets after the workout. It’s brilliant! Coach uses Google Sheets to let everyone know their workout plan and where to record workout log information. It’s so smart, we are doing that.
I’ll have a report from the conference meet this weekend.
Coach’s UPenn Update
Most of you know that besides coaching at Johns Hopkins this Spring, I am also working to wrap up my Masters in Applied Positive Psychology degree at the University of Pennsylvania. As I settled in to Baltimore, I found the best library within walking distance of my apartment…the Enoch Pratt Public Library, the central branch. It is a fantastic place to study! Almost too nice–this library can be distracting–but it also draws me here in the morning. Picture me here, grinding on my Positive Psychology degree at UPenn.
Also, if you have not heard…guess who my thesis advisor is?
Yes…Angela Duckworth is my capstone thesis advisor!
I am having a good time, and I miss you too. Two things can be true at the same time.
Keep training diligently!
