As you might have noticed we had a little problem with mvrunning for a few days, probably something that anyone but your coach could have resolved in 45 seconds, but it took me a while! I will get a (late) post up on CCS shortly. In the meantime, a few other highlights:
Banquet:
MVXC had our season-end awards-banquet on Tuesday the 15th…it was a fun night, as always, with a packed student center. Award winners were:
- Most Outstanding Runners: Kelly Bishop, Bennett Zhang
- Most Inspirational: Paru Meyyappan, Sarah Feng, Derek Lee
- Most Improved: Serena Geis, Heewon Chung
- Spirit of Running: Bennett Zhang
- Rookies of the Year: Triya Roy, Kyle Tsujimoto
- Coaches’ Awards: Salma Sheriff, Andy Ma
Post-Season SCVAL Coaches’ Meeting:
A new award was voted on this season–a team sportsmanship award. Monta Vista was chosen as the most ‘sportsmanlike’ team in the 14 team Santa Clara Valley Athletic League coaches. I’m not sure what kind of recognition you get–I can’t imagine they are sending us t-shirts!–however they could not have picked a more worthy team! Congrats, athletes–as always, I am proud of you!
Year End Ranking:
The final CCS XC rankings have come out and for the first time in memory, both boys and girls ended up in the top 15. Congratulations, everyone!
