Many returning MVXC athletes have been waiting with anticipation for the day that the 2018 Cross Country Schedule will be posted. Wait no longer…that day is here!
We have our MVXC schedule posted! And you can download a copy too.
A few notes and highlights…
- We are joining the Chieftain-Spirit Classic Invitational for the first time. Chieftain is run on Toro–the same course as Earlybird. However, Chieftain is run one week earlier than Earlybird (which makes that the not-so-early-bird). Last year, we felt like everyone was getting pretty anxious waiting for that first race so we decided to go a week earlier. Yea!
- MVXC will be trying another invitational for the first time–Pacific Tiger, in Stockton. Pacific Tiger is hosted by the University of the Pacific and is on a course we have never tried before. The course is on a golf course. Running XC on a golf course is very common in some parts of the country but unusual in California so it will be a new experience for most MVXC athletes. Since we have never run on that course before, we have some guaranteed MVXC course records!
- For our third invitational, we plan on inviting about half the team to travel overnight to Fresno for the ASICS-Clovis Invitational. Clovis is held on the same course where the California State Championships are held, and is kind of a preview event for the contenders for the State championships. This is a great chance to run on a classic cross country course, with good competition, and have some overnight team bonding for dedicated team members.
- Back to Mt SAC! After a year’s absence we are going to head back. Construction is ongoing at SAC 🙁 but we will head back and give it a try anyway. We can’t stay away from another great course.
- The CCS Championships come back to our favorite course, Crystal!
Please remember that the schedule is subject to change. We are still waiting for confirmation about the location for SCVAL 1, and I’m sure there will be unexpected changes still to come.
Parents, while you are reading this–could you please consider joining the Monta Vista Athletic Boosters now, and getting this out of the way early? The MVAB site is up and running. The Fall will get busy, and we forget–I totally understand, but we will have to be trying to contact you, we are all busy, it’s hard.
