Hellllloooooo, MVXC…I had a bunch of things to drop and it seems like too much for a zillion Discord posts, so here we are!
Saturday Morning Workout
I loved this run! Matador Miles are the best, and taking a cue from Hopkins, we made these cutdown miles (trying to make each rep a bit faster than the last one), and added some hard 300s to improve our finishing runs. It was a gorgeous morning, and running in the cool weather does more than feel good–we get a better workout in the cool, and we still acclimate to the heat during the week. I appreciate everyone who joined me this morning!
Candy Crush
The next Saturday workout will be Dawn Patrol on the famed Candy Crush run! Candy Crush will be in two weeks, on Saturday, October 12. We will launch from the track at 6:30 am sharp. This is more than a great workout–it is incredibly fun and memorable! Make sure to be there, for the workout and for the memories.
Team Photos!
The photos from the shoot last week are in this gallery. I think that the password T4BM will get you in, or maybe you get your own–I’m not entirely clear on that. Hopefully, you will be able to get into the gallery, and then download all the photos you want. There are some fantastic photos here! Enjoy!
Artichoke Invitational: Saturday, October 5!
I pulled the meet sheet down for a bit; the meet director says that the frosh-soph boys race is huge so I’m thinking about whether we move some boys to different races so you have more room to run. It will be back up soon and I’ll link it from Discord. But in the meantime, here are the highlights:
- You are responsible for your own transportation. Plan to be at Half Moon Bay High School at 7:45 am if you are in an early race, no later than 8:30 am if you are supporting or running in a later race. It takes about 45 minutes if there is no traffic, however there can be a lot of traffic if you leave too late–the road backs up, and lots of people go to buy pumpkins for Halloween. Seriously, the road can back up and the drive can be awful.
- Our last runners will be finished at 12:30 pm. Please plan on staying until then to cheer on all your teammates! After the last race, you have a choice…head back to Cupertino right away, or head to the beach. The captains are organizing an afternoon on the beach, and I agreed to bring pizza, so get your order in! You could log some beach time, maybe wait for a sunset, or head back and still make HoCo or any other evening plans you have. (That is why there is no bus for this trip, we believe people want flexibility.)
- It’s not a crazy idea to stop and choose a holiday pumpkin!
Alumni Update
Vivian Lau and her Tufts teammates are off to a strong start this season! Triya Roy finished in the top 15 as her Hopkins Blue Jays competed in a pre-national competition in Terre Haute (that’s where Coach Smith went to college!). At CalTech, Rohun Agrawal entered his senior year looking for a trip back to NCAA nationals next month.
