Two weeks from today, the best marathoners in the USA will be racing in Houston to see who has the honor of representing the United States in the 2012 Olympics in London.   Kind of unbelievably, Monta Vista High School has a rooting interest in both the men’s and the women’s races!  Josh Cox, a huge fan of Monta Vista running (and guest coach for the cross-country team at this year’s Earlybird Invitational) will be running in the men’s marathon trials.  And Desiree Davila will be competing in the women’s Olympic Trials.

Here is a link to an article in Runners’ World about Des and the upcoming Trials race.  http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/microsite/article/0,8029,s6-239-569-0-14169-0,00.html   It’s a great article (it’s great on-line, and even more impressive in the print edition).  Think about this, team–just a few months ago, all of you were running your pre-workout drills with this woman!

It’s pretty cool at the end of the year to reflect on the lives we have touched through running during the last year.  I’ve checked in on both Josh and Desiree in the last week to see how their training and preparation is going for their upcoming race–and both of them said to say hello to all of you and wish you good luck in the upcoming track season!  They are keeping an eye on you 🙂

Let’s all think good thoughts for our friends in the coming weeks as they prepare for huge, huge races!

Above is a nice photo of some of you and Des, and there are more in our album:
