On August 16, school starts for Monta Vista athletes and we start our regular practice schedule…the team will meet in the stands at the track starting 20 minutes after the last bell of the day, dressed out and ready to start our run! Practice is every day after school and will last for about two hours (longer on Watermelon Time Trial day). It’s not too late to join the team, so long as the athlete has completed athletic clearance. (When you complete your clearance, including the on-line impact test and uploading your physical form, don’t forget to email Mr. Bonacorsi and Javier to let them know that you are ready to be cleared–they need to know you are ready to be approved.) Cross country is a great sport and MCVX is a wonderful team to be a part of…if you are willing to work hard to see what you are capable of doing on the roads and trails, we want you on the team!
As we get ready to begin our after school practices and the next twelve weeks of training and our 2021 season, let’s look at a few photos of our first week of morning practice…in the six days from August 9 to the 14th, MVXC saw about 50 athletes log almost 2000 miles, including our first set of hill repeats and trail intervals. New athletes learned how to do a Carioca and a Starfish, the way to run Matador’s Point and the Palm Tempo Route, and what a set of Matador Ks feel like. This hard working group of runners is off to a great start for 2021! Thanks to everyone who joined in with enthusiasm…have a good first day of school…and see you afterwards for our first practice!
A current season schedule is available…please note that there are some contingencies built in and this schedule will change!
