We are very close to having a track & field league schedule finalized, and to figuring out how to share field space with all the other sports that are still active and about to start (football, field hockey, soccer, baseball, softball…). There will be a zoom meeting the week of March 29 to update all interested athletes on the details–hopefully we will have most things cleared up in this weird year. For now, you can start planning on…
- First track practice is targeted for April 8 at 4pm.
- As always, athletes must be cleared before an athlete may participate in any team practice. If you are already cleared for another sport and want to be part of the track team when your sport is over, see Javier to be added to the track roster.
- There will be practice during the week of Spring Break.
- There may be some 7am practices the first few weeks because of conflicts with scheduled games in the stadium.
- We are targeting five league meets (three dual meets and two tri-meets) with the first competition Friday, April 30 hosting Mt. View (ironically, this was the meet that Coach Flatow was setting up to host when Mr. Bonacorsi walked out to the track and told him “guess what, Mt. View is not coming to compete”…and MVTF held the Carpe Diem games and shut down for what we did not know would be a year).
- The last competition and practices will be held during the week of May 24.
Because this season is only seven weeks long, if an athlete wishes to earn PE credit, an athlete may miss no more than four practices if they wish to earn PE credit, including the Spring break week practices and any early morning practices. Be cleared as of the first day! Athletes must also compete in our five league meets. If an athlete will miss more than four practices, they will not earn PE credit but at the discretion of the coaches they may still practice and compete with the team.

This is going go be an odd year, and we are going to all have to be flexible and roll with some weirdness and some annoyances if we are going to get through this season with some joy and happiness. But if we do, we will have really accomplished something special and we will have something to build upon next year when I believe we will be back to something much more normal and what we are used to!
