59 viewsMonta Vista Cross Country has permission to expand and reorganize our training cohorts! We will be announcing the new structure shortly, and changes will take place on Monday, October 19.
There are a lot of people who are thinking that training with a group, getting some exercise, and seeing other people in REAL LIFE not just on Zoom seems like a lot of fun! Now is your chance to join. If you are a soccer athlete, field hockey player, tennis player–any athlete who is itching to compete a bit, but your sport is shut down for now–come join us. Cross country may one of the first sports to reopen, so if you want to compete, or just want to get fit, come join us!
Here is the process.
First thing, make sure your parent consent form is complete. Go the the FUHSD form and have your parents complete this right away. (Current members of the MVXC training cohorts do not need to do this, your releases are good for the rest of the fall season I believe. You still need to complete your complete 2020-21 release for the cross country season before December 10 however.)
You don’t have to do this, but after your parents complete the form it would be smart to email Mr. Bonacorsi at nick_bonacorsi@fuhsd.org and tell him that your parents have complete the release and that you want to join the cross country training groups, and ask him to please add your name to the cleared list for cross country. Mr. Bonacorsi has a lot to do and if you remind him you can be sure that he does not miss your name.
On Friday afternoon, Coach Flatow will ask Mr. Bonacorsi for an updated and complete list of everyone who has been cleared. All these people will be assigned to a cohort. This is why you need to have your clearance forms complete now and you can’t wait until Monday morning!
On Saturday, we plan to post a list of everyone who has been assigned to a training cohort here on mvrunning.com.
On Monday October 19, we will start up the new training cohorts with an orientation day for the new people.
That’s it!
Cross country has figured out how to train, and even compete a bit, during the pandemic. Come join this team, stay fit, keep your head on straight with your brain balanced a bit more, get ready for a new season in cross country or your home sport. We hope to see you out with us!
