It is Spring Break!

Monta Vista track and field will be holding practices at the MV track Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 3pm.   Please keep in mind that League Finals will be the Wednesday and Friday of the week we return from break so we don’t want to let up during Spring Break.  We hope to see you at practice!

Distance Team:  If you are traveling for break with your family, here are the suggested workouts for the week…

Monday:  45 minute run (+/- 5 minutes) at conversational pace.  End with 6 hard strides.  Stretch and core.

Tuesday:  Warm up.  Three miles /or 20 minutes at tempo pace (comfortably fast pace).  Three minute recovery then an 800 /0r three minutes faster than tempo.  Three minute recovery then six strides.  (Note–this workout is designed to be simple for people traveling. Those coming to practice on Tuesday will do a different workout–so don’t get too focused on this one if you are working with the team.)  Stretch and leg-focused core.

Wednesday:  30 minute run (+/- 5 minutes) at conversational pace.    Stretch and core.

Thursday:  Long run at conversational pace, whatever ‘long’ means to you.  Try for a purple-dot pick up mile at the end, plus 6 strides.  Stretch and leg focused core.

Friday:  40 minute run (+/- 5 minutes) at conversational pace.  End with 6 hard strides.  Stretch and core.  (Note that this is the last day for entries to El Camino League Finals.)
