We have approval, and a bus, for the Fourth Annual Mountain to the Sea! The run will be on Sunday, June 3; the traditional day, two days after graduation. For the new runners, here is what the M2S run is all about…
7am: Meet at the Monta Vista bus circle, where our bus will pick us up.
~8am: You will be kicked to the curb in Felton, California, in the middle of the Santa Cruz mountains surrounded by giant Redwood trees. And we start running! About eight miles later…
~10am: We arrive in Santa Cruz, where we meet the bus and gather our beach toys and towels and dry shirts. Slather on the sun block and head to the ocean for a day on the beach!
3pm: Meet back at the bus for our drive home to Cupertino.
~4:30pm: Back in the bus circle at Monta Vista.
Who can join? Anyone who has been on the Monta Vista cross country or track team, who is on the MV cross country or track team, or is an incoming freshman that PLANS to join the MV cross country or track team. You don’t even have to be a distance runner; we have had sprinters join this run! Really. Maybe you will decide to join the cross country team after enjoying this run, it’s happened before! Alumni are welcome too. This is a good run for MVXC to kick off summer running, it’s a great run for MVTF runners to celebrate the end of a strong season, and a nice run for recent graduates to use as a reunion run when back from college.
What to bring:
- Running gear
- Dry clothes
- Beach towel
- Beach wear, swimming suits, sandals, etc.
- Packed lunch or lunch money (most kids walk to someplace close to the beach for lunch, there are some healthy options as well as the Boardwalk places which are less healthy. I try not to judge but fried oreos are a little suspect…)
- Water bottle
- Beach toys or anything else you want on the beach
Cost: $20 includes the bus ride. Lunch is NOT included. Bring some money other expenses (lunch, snacks, Boardwalk rides, whatever you want).
How to sign up: Nitin Subramanian has volunteered to take care of the sign ups. The first 50 athletes to give Nitin $20 and turn in the parent release form (downloadable below) are on the run. There is a maximum of 5o people on this trip.
