MVXC prepped for Leagues with strong performances top to bottom at the FUHSD Championships on Thursday, October 26.
The Monta Vista girls’ cross-country team headlined as they took care of business, defending their title and winning the FUHSD Championship for the seventh straight year! This year featured an impressive display of pack running as the top seven girls, lead by Sarah Feng and Sanjana Borle, finished within a mere 21 second gap, and with all seven girls romping home before second place Lynbrook’s fourth runner got home. Truly an impressive display as we open the championship portion of the season!
MVXC had plenty more reasons to be proud. The Frosh-Soph boys scored a solid third place, while the Varsity boys brought home a solid second place finish to a highly ranked Cupertino squad. The Varsity-B boys had a dominating victory in their race, scoring 17 points (only 2 points from a perfect 15) as Darren Yang recorded his first victory in a cross-country race. Winning a cross-country race is always a rare and special treat! The Varsity-B girls completed the day with a second place finish of their own.
All in all, an excellent warm up for Leagues on October 31.
Sadly, we also bid good-bye to teammate Anushka Tandon who is moving to Canada this weekend. Anushka was a dependable, determined and gritty teammate who was always persistent in the face of challenges. Anushka brought a smiling face to every practice and lifted everyone up; she will be missed.
